On November 2nd, you have the option to employ me as your State Representative.

Growing up in a transient uneducated family of 13, I know first hand the complexities of poverty and the social ills created by lack of education and unused opportunity. I understand how the deterioration of culture and community acutely and permanently affects lives.

Yet by the grace of God and the hand of Providence, I was born in a nation conceived by those who believed in the intrinsic value of human life- a nation birthed from the loins of hunger for independence- a nation cultivated by the thirst for autonomy and private ownership. I believe that no other state in the union exemplifies the extraordinary spirit of these United States as does the great state of TEXAS.

I have never been a politician or involved in any other political campaign. I am a small business owner, a mother of four boys, a literacy advocate, and most importantly, a very concerned citizen. WE are concerned citizens.

We are concerned with the direction our country is heading. We are concerned about the future of our children. We are concerned with the diminishing opportunities to leave a tangible legacy to our posterity. We are concerned about the systematic breakdown of our culture.

We are concerned with the destructive liberal and progressive philosophies and policies that have infiltrated our government and are destroying our ability to EARN a living, to OWN revenue generating property, and voluntarily SERVE our fellow man.

We are concerned that these policies have found advocates in our Texas State House of Representatives and that “We The People” are no longer being represented by federal, state, or local delegates. We are concerned that we have no public defender of our clear conservative family and fiscal values.

This Legislative session will be met with an estimated 18 to 22 billion dollar budget shortfall. Our citizens have unequivocally expressed that wasteful spending must be curbed and further tax increases are not acceptable.

1.) Your incumbent has publicly committed to raise taxes and to use the rainy day fund in lieu of cutting waste and spending on ineffective programs.

2.) Your incumbent has spent nearly $300,000 on her re-election bid. Most of that money came from special interest groups outside our district. These groups do not and can not represent our families.

3.) Your incumbent has accepted over $66,000 from pro-abortion groups who proudly endorse her as they seek to promote progressive candidates and the Obama agenda in our state.

In contrast, our campaign is a reflection of the renaissance of our community and country. Every endorsement, every dollar, every event has been an unsolicited, volunteer effort. We have spent less than $15,000. Each penny was given by people who believe in our state and our cause. We have refused to accept special interest money or pay contract labor to raise signs and reach people. Together we have run an effective and successful grassroots effort.

Our community is ready for a representative who will foment relationships without compromising constituents. Our community is ready for a delegate who derives leadership from servanthood. Our community is ready to engage in state policy and influence the laws under which we are required to run our businesses and families.

Our community believes in the intrinsic right to LIFE, the endowment of personal liberty, and the unencumbered pursuit of happiness. Now that we have risen, we must continue to stand.

Peace and Prosperity to you, your families, and your businesses. To November 2nd and Beyond, we truly are in this together.

Rebecca

On Becoming Engaged

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 162px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Ip0URorz604/TM3bjvII-HI/AAAAAAAAAEw/9VAuExFT4HA/s200/flags.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5534320924100720754" />

WE ARE LIVING EXCITING TIMES, MY FRIENDS!

To my delight, the self evident truths of our right to LIFE, LIBERTY, and the pursuit of HAPPINESS are once again at the forefront of coffee talk, general conversation, and political debate.

We are finally studying and returning to our Founding Documents as we seek a more comprehensive understanding of the foundation of our political structure. We are in dire need of principled public servants who will put loyalty to the Constitution and the principles that guarantee our freedom ahead of party affiliation, money, and special interests. I believe you will keep that oath as a Representative in Austin. Your dedication to conservative values, fiscal discipline, and family values will serve the good folks of the 41st District and Texas well.

I commend you for your stand on the sanctity of the Constitution, preserving financial autonomy and economic stability achieved through minimal taxation, competitive free markets, and preservation of property ownership. I also appreciate your stand on individual responsibilities to preserve and protect their own life, liberty, and property as well as that of their fellow citizens.

I wish you Godspeed in your campaign, and I will be encouraging others to support your candidacy in the forthcoming election. You may communicate my endorsement to the voters as you see fit.

Respectfully,

Paul E. Vallely

Major General Paul E Vallely, US Army (Ret)
Chairman – Stand Up America
Chairman / Trustee – Scott Vallely’s Soldiers Memorial Fund

On Passion-

<img style="float: left; Literacy is the ability to assimilate knowledge and apply it to our lives in a practical way. Reading increases vocabulary, comprehension, and analytical skills. Habitual readers generally achieve a higher level of education and satisfaction in their adult lives. Literate adults enjoy better physical and social health and are three times more likely to participate in cultural activities and fine arts.

So, how can your family become more literate? You can do what our family did and eliminate television altogether, or you can adopt a less extreme approach. Many families find the following tips helpful:

1. Limit the number of hours your child spends watching television or playing video games and move the T.V. from his or her bedroom to a common area where you can observe and enforce T.V. time and content rules.

2. Substitute T.V. time with simple activities that utilize reading such as cooking from a recipe or planning a family vacation.

3. Make routine trips to the public library and bookstore and gift your child books on birthdays or special holidays.

4. TALK about reading. Ask your children questions about what they are currently reading and discuss highlights of what you are reading.

Most importantly, be a good example. Your child needs to see you enriching your own life through literacy. Making literacy an active part of your family culture will greatly increase your child’s chances of academic and social success.

On Independence Day

Happiness is experiencing a state of tranquility:
to be free from anxiety, discontent, and emotional disturbance.

Happiness is a common pursuit. We all desire to live free from unnecessary disturbance. Yet what each of us requires to be happy is subjective- as is our individual method of acquiring happiness.

Our founding fathers seemed to unilaterally agree that happiness is the natural state of humanity. Since our culture spends most of its time and resources attempting to achieve happiness, I would agree with John Locke that humans "are drawn by the forces of pleasure and repulsed by pain."

Widely considered a natural state for humans in the Jeffersonian era, happiness was believed to be divinely intended and worthy of protection. What makes us happy varies widely but human nature and common sense tell us that the ability to feed, clothe, and shelter one's self and family is primordial in pursuing a state of tranquility.

Studies overwhelmingly indicate that those who accumulate property (wealth) are physically and socially more productive than those who do not. Citizens that earn wages and own property sustain our macro and micro economies through consumption, job creation, and tax revenue.

The original document delivered by Thomas Jefferson to the Second Continental Congress in the summer of 1776 included the phrase "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." The phrase survived heavy editing and revision and remained in the concise yet profound document we know as the Declaration of Independence.

The content of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution created the framework for our government and protection for our citizens. Whether Jefferson originated Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness*, or borrowed it from his contemporaries does not matter to me. What is important to me is what that simple line articulates and represents.

The true Pursuit of Happiness can only exist when Liberty is promoted and protected. True Liberty can only exist when Life is a protected unalienable right.

I choose to pursue HAPPINESS.

*Johne Locke originally posited in "Two Treatises on Government" the idea that a person's right to live a healthy life, free to amass and maintain property-"life, health, liberty and property".

Liberty

<img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px;
